Oil Declines After Saudi Crude Surge via Oman; Diesel Prices Near Record Levels
Oil prices slipped in early trade after Saudi Arabia announced a larger crude shipment through the Oman corridor, adding fresh supply to the market. The move has weighed on West Texas Intermediate and Brent benchmarks, which fell modestly as traders reassessed the balance of supply and demand.
At the same time, diesel prices have edged closer to their highest levels seen in recent months. The uptick in diesel is driven by tightening inventories and a spike in refinery demand, prompting market participants to anticipate tighter margins for fuel producers.
Analysts note that the Saudi export decision comes amid a broader strategy to maintain market share while managing global oil inventories. The additional supply via Oman is expected to exert downward pressure on prices until the market absorbs the new flow.
Investors are watching the interplay between crude supply dynamics and refined product demand, particularly diesel, as they gauge the trajectory of energy prices in the coming weeks.
