European Gas Prices Stabilize After Five-Week Ascent Amid Geopolitical Tensions
European natural gas markets have taken a breather, pausing their recent upward trajectory. Despite this brief cooling, the sector has successfully recorded its fifth consecutive week of gains, largely driven by ongoing instability in the Middle East. Broader commodity markets are also feeling the heat, with the BCOM TR index climbing approximately 4% this week, bringing its year-to-date performance to a 25% gain. The current disruption near the Strait of Hormuz is creating a ripple effect, moving beyond crude oil to impact essential supplies including diesel, jet fuel, petrochemicals, and fertilizers, thereby intensifying pressure on global supply chains.
