Gold Climbs 1% as Fed Rate‑Hike Concerns Rise, Other Commodities Show Mixed Moves
Gold rebounded 1.0% on the day, trading at $4,138.30 per ounce—an increase of $32.97 (0.80%)—as investors weighed the impact of hotter U.S. inflation on future Fed policy. Silver followed suit, rising 0.69% to $56.268 per ounce, up $0.387.
Energy prices slipped: WTI crude fell 1.05% to $94.09 a barrel, a decline of $1.00, while Brent crude dropped 1.57% to $104.39, down $1.67. Copper and aluminum also saw modest declines, falling 1.54% to $6.5573 per pound and 0.99% to $2,960.25 per ton, respectively.
Natural gas, however, edged higher by 1.81%, trading at $3.258 per MMBtu, up $0.058. The data reflects market activity between 08:00 and 16:00 on 15 October.
The mixed commodity backdrop underscores the market’s cautious stance as inflationary data continues to shape expectations for the Federal Reserve’s next rate moves.
