Oil Analysis for Today, Thursday, August 27, 2026
Crude oil prices are trading lower today, undergoing a mild downward correction following a previous rally; West Texas Intermediate (WTI) is trading in the $81.16–$81.80 per barrel range, while Brent crude is hovering between $86.50 and $86.80 per barrel.
Intraday Technical Outlook (WTI / USOIL)
- Overall Trend: Consolidation and a temporary downward correction (profit-taking) on short-term timeframes (1H/4H); however, the bullish structure remains intact as long as the price trades above key pivot levels.
Key Support Zones:
- $80.80 – $81.20: The primary pivotal support level and the point where the intraday bullish structure would break.
- $79.00 – $79.50: The next demand zone should the corrective move extend.
Key Resistance Zones:
- $83.00 – $83.50: The initial selling barrier and immediate resistance for any rebound.
- $84.50 – $85.00: A peak and key resistance level; a breakout and sustained move above $85.00 would pave the way directly toward $87.50, followed by $90.00.
Expected Trading Scenarios
1. Bullish Scenario (Buy on Retest):
- A break above the $83.50 resistance level, accompanied by a recovery in bullish momentum, could drive the market to retest the $85.00 level.
- A decline to the $81.00–$81.50 support zone, followed by the appearance of a reversal candlestick, presents a favorable buying opportunity targeting $83.50 and subsequently $85.00.
2. Bearish Scenario (Correction Extension):
- Breaking the $80.80 support level and closing a 4-hour candle below it would invalidate the short-term bullish outlook, paving the way for a correction toward $79.00 and then $77.00.
Key Drivers and News Impact
Markets are currently influenced by diplomatic developments in the Middle East and supply dynamics in maritime corridors, alongside the release of US inventory data and Federal Reserve interest rate projections.
