South Korea and Iran Diplomatic Chiefs Hold Urgent Talks on Middle East Stability
South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun and his Iranian counterpart, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, engaged in a telephone conversation on Friday to address the escalating tensions across the Middle East. During the discussion, Minister Cho emphasized South Korea’s desire for a swift return to regional peace and stability. A primary focus of the dialogue was the Strait of Hormuz, where Cho underscored the critical necessity of maintaining secure and unrestricted navigation for all international vessels, including those from South Korea. He affirmed that Seoul remains committed to global initiatives designed to protect maritime transit routes. Furthermore, the ministers addressed the safety of South Korean citizens residing in the region, with Cho requesting Iranian cooperation in ensuring their protection. Minister Araghchi provided Tehran’s perspective on the current geopolitical climate.
