Markets Hold Steady as Investors Await Bank Earnings and LVMH Sales
U.S. equity markets closed largely flat on Friday, with the S&P 500 finishing at 4,156.02, a 0.12 % gain from the previous close. The Nasdaq and Dow Jones Industrial Average were essentially unchanged, reflecting a cautious stance as investors await key corporate earnings and European luxury sales data.
In commodities, gold settled at $1,956.02, down 0.12 %, while silver slipped to $59.07, a 0.76 % drop. Crude oil remained steady, with WTI at $94.23, up 0.10 %, and Brent at $105.67, down 0.02 %. Copper traded at $6.77, up 0.58 %, and aluminium was at $3,026.80, down 0.31 %. Natural gas was priced at $3.32, up 1.04 %.
Analysts anticipate that U.S. banks will report earnings that are likely to be robust this quarter, whereas LVMH’s sales figures are expected to fall short of expectations. The market’s focus on these developments has kept volatility in check, with investors weighing the potential impact on both the financial and luxury sectors.
