Gold slipped 1.07% to $3,904.27 per ounce, its lowest level of the week, yet remains in positive territory thanks to a mix of geopolitical uncertainty and a buoyant oil market. Silver mirrored the decline, falling 3.84% to $48.94 per ounce.
Oil prices added momentum to the market: WTI crude rose 1.31% to $97.72, while Brent climbed 0.97% to $105.79.
Base metals also moved in opposite directions. Copper slid 3.04% to $6.37 per pound, and aluminum fell 1.58% to $3,045.60 per ton. Natural gas, however, gained 1.23% to $2.891 per MMBtu.
The combination of geopolitical headwinds and stronger energy prices continues to underpin precious metals, keeping gold in a positive zone despite the recent dip.
